Default problems with vig 3200

ok i just got the converter installed yesterday and it feels weak from a stop and roll. on drag radials i can floor the car and it wont even spin the tires, a buddie of mine has the same setup as me and it will blow the tires of the car. it feels like the torques just not there in the lower mid range. has anyone else had this problem?

i called PI and they told me to reset the pcm so i do(doesnt change a thing). so i call them back and now they tell me its the HPPIII and the torque management and i need to get computer tuning(I i just dont beleve this}. its the launch and mid range where the powers missing not when shifting. I really dont know what to do.

i would take it out and send it back to them to check it out but im not very handy with installs and i alredy spent 250 on install and 700 on the converter and dont have the.funds to do this again.

so what do you guys think?

BTW my car is stock ecept a lid tires hppIII and the converter

Terry beat me to the fluid level suggestion, that is exactly what the problem sounds like to me...

Not to be a jerk, but are you REALLY SURE the trans oil level is OK???

What year is your car?

I'd add 1/4 qt. and try it again. It definitely sounds like a problem that I've had in the past w/ low trans fluid. Where in TX are you? The reason I ask is because I have ATap and would be happy to check things out.

Sorry '346, I hope you didn't take that wrong.

What you describe sounds PRECISELY what I had after picking up my car after the Vig install. I immediately pulled over and checked the trans oil. Sure enough, it was Way, WAY low. Apparently the guys that installed the converter didn't fill it up correctly. x()

After I put in a quart, the trans responded MUCH better.

I have a Vig3200 on my '01 SS and all I had was a Lid and Pulley and I couldn't even hit the gas without sending the car sideways. SOMETHING definitely doesn't make sense.

if you can, try to contact steve frank about it. he has installed many of them in our cars and my 2800 works perfect. when we did mine steve said to check the fluid for several days in case there was any air that the fluid was pushing out and that might cause low fluid or even it could be too much fluid in the tranny. i know those tranny's want just enough. not too much or too little fluid. he is in houston as well and is very helpfull!!!

I agree on the trans fluid...

I have a PI 3200 as well..
(Installed by Speed Inc. )
Tom Izzo was very informative and let me know to keep an eye on the fluid for the first few days.
Sure enough, it was low, I added more just to get it at the proper level despite the fact that the level was fine when I left the shop.

Start the car and let it warm up.
Then row it thru the gears once or twice.
Check the fluid after you do that...

I agree, sounds like the fluids low.
