The main issue I would think would be finding an aftermarket company like tci to make a tranny control computer for it. It won't work with the old data bus system from what ken at ls1 edit sayes. It sounds like a great tranny. I don't know why you would use a 6l80e on a base vette. It will probably get a 6l60e tranny. Maybe the zo6 will get a 6l80e if they decide to offer it with an auto.

For a vette/ GTO That would work nicely on the street with 2.73 gears, but it is a long drop from 1st to 2nd. Personnally, I rather see something more like this:
3.36
2.45
1.62
1.15
.85
.60
Put a 3.42 rear end and combine with the current 6.0l engine and even with a small tq converter that would be fast on the street and cross the quarter mile pretty high in the rpm band. And you would have nice low highway revs.

Unfortunately, I think it is a 2.56 rear in the new vette, so it would be like having 3.36 rear with our current 4L60e in terms of first gear pull.

I did some searching around myself on this after seeing the article in one of the mags. It will be going in the 2006 Cadillac XLR-V and like mentioned I believe it will end up in the C6.

I skimmed the Hot Rod article too. It is almost the same size case as a 4L60E and only a hair longer. There will be 4 transmissions in the family all varying only
.050 inch overall length, if I remember correctly what i read. Pretty much it would be able to bolt in, all that would be needed is a tranny controller from a company like TCI to control it i believe.
