Some important info that you must know! max. STR is at a dead stop
that as soon as you spin your tires from a dead stop or a roll your STR go stright to (0) ZERO and will stay there, so you only have direct engine power at the RPM you are holding, being applied to the transmission, so a converter with tires spinning with 1.5 or 2.8 will act the same!
So a converter that holds traction will make the STR last longer thats why the Sy3500 and PT series converters pull so hard they are made to keep the tires planted.

3000/2.2 and have the same problem as you. It "feels" great in daily driving but will easily break 'em loose if I don't feather it out at the track. I think I'm going to try some ET streets next season.

What are you going with?

Also does anyone else think 2.5 STR is too much for DR's?

fuddle 3000 w/a 2.0 str, turning a 2.73 rear end. Pretty much all stock and it will still fry the tires at will. I'm thinking about some drag radials as soon as it drys out up here in washington.

You have to learn how to launch the car with DRs, you can't just stall it up and then mash the pedal out of the hole. Gotta give it some TLC.

i agree, one reason i went with a 1.7 vs my old 2.0str was to help with off the line traction, well let me tell you with a 3,800 stall its still hard not to spin the tires on dr's

Mines has an STR of 2.55, I run the nittos and it's a Daily driver. I love it.

With that I think traction will be hard to come by. Higher STR needs stickier, wider tire...IMO

i should be going with a 4000 2.7 str fuddle in a couple weeks. i doubt my 255/50/16 mt dr's are going to hold. so I will be widening my rims and going to a 305 nitto. i sure as hell hope that holds. if not, a guess i will be taking a 28' slick out on the street.
