Will running a really low converter stall like a 2800 with a low STR do much for a car. I just wondering because Im going to be 99% of the time on the street and its a DD of about 40miles a day.

3400 2.1 w/ 3.23's. Good compromise for spending 99.999% of the time on the street.
Anything less and you might as well run a stock TC.

IF STALL GOES UP POWER GOES UP (GENERALLY) SO IT WOULD BE HARDER TO LAUNCH ON SAME STR.. my 2.5 str melst my 315 nittos if i had to do it again id go 4000 stall 2.0 str being im staying off slicks if i was using slicks then 2.5 str would be great .. as of now i can get ti off the line good with some restraint but i do realise the higher str is causing me to be less efficent up top and being i cant use it i belive my setup is not 100%.. im hopeing with my ported heads\and big *** cam the high str will compliment a potential tq loss down low and it will all equil out but for my current tq band my str is too high IMO

Questions about STR see http://www.converter.com/torqueratio.htm
STR is not the only thing, look at who makes it and how.

Unless Your Going To Run Slicks Id Stick With A Max Str Of 2.2...

If You Dont Have Any Gears Then Mabye You Could Do A 2.5 Str But Id Say Your Better Off Sticking With 3.73's And A 2.2 Str

a 255 m/t should stick better than a 305 nitto, the only reason I went with nittos is becuase the car is my DD

ss3600 With 2.5 here, and it can't keep traction to save its life. My best 60ft is a 1.8 so far, that was with bolt ons. so In two weeks I will be seeing what she will do with a little more power behind her.

3800 performabuilt stall with 1.69 str, Am going bigger soon, str is not enough, worked ok on the bottle with a 1.49 60 ft. with all stock suspension and just 255/60/16 mt dr's. Going 9" and 28" slicks this year so I want at least a 3800 to 4000 with a 2.2 to 2.4 str, should get me in the low 1.40's or 1.30's with a complete suspension setup also.

I currently have a performabuilt 4000 stall. Never told me the str. Its a 4cyl unit with the adapter ring welded on. Cant even spin the tires with it with et streets. dead hooks every time. hits like stock. Will pull it out eventually bu after swapping trannys and converters all last season just happy car goes forward and backward right now. Gotta love a company with warranty coverage. they keep shipping you junk and evintually you get on that works even if you did burn up 2 new billet converters. At least I get good mileage now and dont have to worry about breaking the rear.
