Default Pressure Control Solenoid Amperage Readings

Ever since I read the thread about the possibility of ported Maf ends giving you less than full line pressure in the A4's @ WOT,I've been doing some testing & have 2 questions;

#1 Minimum pressure is at 1.1 Amps on that solenoid & .1 Amp is full pressure.My question is what line pressure in PSI do these mins & maxs relate to?

#2 I wasn't getting full pressure at WOT with my ported ends in,so I put the stockers back in & still don't have full pressure according to the atap reading for this solenoid.What's causing this?

AFTICA,

What point on your Atap are you using to monitor that pressure solinoid? I would like to test this also and would like to hear any input from others that might be in the know.Thanks.

James

TXCAMSS- I think the name of the parameter on Atap is pressure control solenoid power or amps.Something like that.

Just hooked up an old B&M Shiftplus I took out years ago when I found out the damage they cause,& was able to get the tranny to go to full pressure (.10 -.00 Amps) with that.Looks like I'm going to have to use the B&M Shiftplus at the track for full pressure shifts & turn it off for everyday driving until I can solve this problem.

In response to question #2, try resetting your computer and see what it does.

Ya know,for a Hick you've got some damn good info.LOL. Seriously, thanks Hick for the link.

I was getting about .50 Amps at the shift points at WOT.At least now I know I was getting about 150 psi of pressure.I thought it was going to be much worse than that.As for resetting the computer,that's been done several times over the past week during all my testing,so that's not the cure.

Still need to track down the answer to my question #2.Any Tranny guys here that can answer that?

After looking over the log sheets the only thing that doesn't seem right is calculated load value.At WOT at the shift points,it's reading 93.73.It would seem like it should be 100%.TPS voltage is 4.6 TPS 100%,so everything else is normal.

If I can't find the problem,could a switch be wired into the circuit that would give full pressure @ WOT.I remember hearing that someone here did that.Does anyone know how to wire that?

Well AFTICA, since I haven't done a WOT run since getting laid off last November, <img src="gr_sad.gif" border="0"> I can't answer your questions. Nonetheless, this looks like an interesting conversation, so I thought I'd bring it TTT for ya.

Now, I've had my tranny built up by my tech at the dealer with some aftermarket parts, as well as some mods to increase line pressure, so I don't know that my results would be helpful to you. I do need a reason to justify having bought a laptop & A-Tap though, so if you want comparisons, I'd be glad to help.

Hi Rich,

Yes I'd like a comparison if you wouldn't mind.Thanks for offering.Try to log calculated load & the pressure control solenoid amps on a WOT run.Let me know the results.
