What tranny cooler do y'all use?
Girlie men!!! If your scared, by a dogg!!! I have a Hayden 26,000 because I just don't by that "too cool drama" that's been going on. Before Hayden with stock 'verter and PPIII 100%, and shift points highest temp was 180 degs on one of the warmer days this year stuck in traffic blipping throttle cycling trans to down shift, lock/unlock. With Hayden installed near bottom and centered on the condenser, very, very max, doing same stupid driving in same weather,150 degs!!! highway and normal driving is around 125 degs. Was around 165 degs highway/normal driving. I plan on getting a converter later so I used biggest I could install with out pulling the nose off the car. Prevent defense is what it's all about with a auto trans guys, car shifts fine at 100-125 degs. I don't want to become another statistic of the "too cool rule". I've melted a trans on a 525 HP '70 'Cuda 440 sixpack and it aint pretty. Imagine your car not moving in any gear and pulling your trans pan and asking yourself "did my trans fluid just turn to ENGINE OIL!!!!". Just food for thought. <img src="gr_tounge.gif" border="0">

I have seen this and opted to not use it for just this type of situation. Good luck. You fast guys need all the help you can get with your high stalls and high torque/hp just = major heat!!!!

With it sitting off the airdam like that, it gets looooots of flow.

I'm thinking of switching to your mounting style but I have a question:
Does it work well in slow stop & go traffic too?
With it currently on the condensor, when my fans kick on sitting at a stoplight, I can see the tranny temp drop. That helps in heavy traffic as the converter is being worked hard, but the car's speed is below 30 mph.

I wondered about the "too cool" thing, but have had no problems other than taking a while to lock up in OD in cool weather and a cold motor.
With the stock converter, I was seeing tranny temps of around 210 with extended idling at a drive-through in the summer/before cooler. After cooler install/stock converter/summer never saw extended hot idle temps above mid 180s. No hot weather ATAP yet with the ST3500.

From: Houston Raceway Park...in TEXAS.
"Frank" mounted his cooler on the front of his air dam a loooong time ago.
Looking at it.... how would it get any air flow in stop and go traffic? Especially free way stop and go traffic that might last for over an hour.
If you live in Houston or another HOT climate city... i would definatley NOT recommend this spot for a tranny cooler.
Mount it where the radiator fans will pull air over it. So it will get air no matter if the car is moving or not.
Just my thoughts...

I have just put up some pictures of my setup:

B&M Super Cooler 24K GVW. We mounted it on the passenger side by drilling 4 holes along the bottom support rail below condenser and bolted it in. I just have to occasionally check for debris behind it as it isnt flush against condenser.
