TCI 3800 stall vs. Yank 4000 stall
Which is the better convertor? What is the difference between the two?
The cheapest I found the TCI 3800 for is $690 at TSP. The cheapest place I found the Yank 4000 for is $775 at Futral Motorsports and at Yank Racing.
I guess my main question is...is it worth the extra $100 or so dollars to get the Yank? I mean, they both have the same 2.6 STR. Is this where quality comes into play? I thought I was set on the TCI 3500 stall, but I did a little more searching around and am now debating on either the TCI 3800 or the Yank 4000 stall. I guess what I want is a big street convertor and the TCI 3800 and Yank 4000 are at the edge of both streetable and track. Any help is appreciated.

Also, what about Fuddle? How does Fuddle compare in performance and quality vs. TCI and/or Yank? Thanks.

I've got the Yank PT4000 and absolutely love it. It's a tad loose for daily driving but it more than makes up for it with performance at the track. I will say that the converter "tightened" up a tad when I switched from 3.42 gears to 3.90 gears. It actually drives better now. My only issue is that I've got a Loudmouth exhaust on the car. A loudmouth with that much converter makes a statement that not everyone wants to make. Just giving you both sides of the fence, so to speak.

Go with the Yank 4000. For me it was the best $775 I spent on my car. With the converter alone I dopped .65 tenths in the 1/8. IMO your paying for quality and efficiency.

It looks like people like Yank more. Is it really worth the extra $100 even though they both have the same 2.6 STR? I want to save as much money as possible.

Also, I plan on being all motor (N/A), so what would be the better stall if I plan on H/C in the future?
I'm leaning more toward the TCI 3800 stall, just because it has the same 2.6 STR as the Yank 4000 and is $100 cheaper. But which would be the better stall for N/A? Thanks.

I chose the Yank SS4000 because of this;
"The unique 21 blade stator was developed by General Motors and will see duty in the upcoming 2004 rear wheel drive Cadillacs with 5 speed automatics. By using a very aggressive 21 blade stator vs. the conventional 15-18 blade model, Yank is now able to offer a converter with the starting line thrust of a 4000+ rpm stall converter with the drivability of a 2800 rpm stall converter. The large windows between blades allows a good supply of oil to flow through, ensuring very high efficiency and low heat."
I like the idea of having a big converter that doesn't act like a big converter while driving it everyday. Is that worth $100 to you? Only you can answer that. Both are fine for N/A. Our cars like bigger converters, especially H/C cars. Take the bigger one. Don't have any experience with Fuddle so can't comment other than to say the reports on this board have been good.

Fuddle's Performance convertor is $400, but their High-Performance/Street Converter is $555 and the only difference is that the it has a billet front cover and larger clutch, so the converter can be locked at WOT. Is it really worth $150 to have the convertor lock at WOT? I'm some-what new to convertors. I don't know if that's good or bad by locking up at WOT. But, anyways, I just want a good performing, quality built convertor at a nice price. Fuddle so far seems to be the cheapest. Thanks for pointing that out BGS!
