Loud "POP" sound... Intermittently when accelerating normally from a stop. Once rolling it doesnt happen. Has anyone experienced this? I had a torque converter & shift kit installed in the spring. August I had a cam & headers installed. This loud pop sound started a couple weeks ago. A local shop said it was the trans slipping & that every auto does it & its normal. Im worried. Any ideas?

Look at your transmission mount and torque arm bushing, check for any wear or tears...replace them if they are torn. Also, check you suspension in the rear, make sure everything is up to par.
this happens in both my buddies cars, when they get it over 3k it pops, it was the tranny mount. Its just a bushing on the outside fot he tranny that keeps the tranny from slamming against the body, so obviously when it is broken its banging the bejesus out of the car. .02

As you can see in my sig I have a converter. The rear is stock & only 19k on the car which has been driven with care always. I do not drive the car hard usually. The popping is intermittent but when it happens its always from a stop & after ANY type of acceleration. Usually I accelerate slowly. Sometimes it happens all day & sometimes not at all. Today it happened a couple times while driving then it didnt happen any more. I cannot find the exact conditions that makes it happen. It definitely sounds like its coming from the rear though.

Due to the fact that you have a stall now and a shift kit I'd say your stock torque arm (I'm assuming it's stock) is getting hit much harder now. That stock torque arm is a piece of crap. Lose it and get an aftermarket one. I got the BMR tranny mount (adjustable) and the popping went away and never came back. I would try that before digging into your differential...just my .02
