4l60e,th350,700R4??
Yep confirmed the nice shiny new(used) 2002 camaro i just bought has a fried tranny. too bad the car only has 20k miles!
My question is should i rebuild the existing 4l60E? Or go to another transmission like the turbo 350> or 700r4? Will these others bolt up? I realize the 350 is just a 3 speed! My Trans guy today will rebuild the one i have in the car with high performance parts set up to take the abuse on the track with a 2800 stall convertor for 2800 bucks installed!Or go to a sponsors transmission company & send for one & put it in myself!
Any suggestions would be appreciated!

I would definitely buy a "crate tranny" from an
established, responsible place that does 'em like
production, rather than let a local tranny shop
rebuild the busted one. Sure, you might get a
good repair. But there's plenty of second-rate
operations out there with a first-rate story for
you. Shop warranty and reputation, and buy
something you think is overkill quality-wise.
Similarly you should consider what sort of converter
you want to be running, now. Lot of variations are
available, price and characteristics-wise. Road,
strip, whatever, it comes down to your expected
use and the car's mods (now & future), engine to
rubber all play in that decision.
But I'd buy whole & warrantied, and just have the
install done.

It will be a lot easier to just do the 4l60e again...
I had some issues with these trannies, but get a well built one and everything should be fine. I think the TH350 is a great transmission, but it is not going to just bolt right up. I have never had the RockOn, but have heard good things about it several times.
