A4 to M6 conversion question
BTW - it's going in a 99' TA.
I also have a few questions about the swap...... was it hard to install the clutch pedal? did you have trouble mounting the clutch master-cylnder? were you able to use the same tranny mount? the same driveshaft? did you have to modify the torque arm to work? and last but not least...... how much cutting was required for the shifter to fit through the floor???
I think that should cover my questions if anyone has made it this far with a swap yet

Since I've done the swap before (just not in an LS1 car), I can answer these questions. The clutch pedal is part of an assembly which includes the clutch, brake, and gas pedals - all mounted on one bracket. It bolts right in place of the original.
Clutch master cylinder can be a pain. Just make sure you drill the holes in the firewall exactly like they are in an M6 car. It helps to have an M6 car you can you for a reference. If the U-bolt holes are off, the master cylinder will be crooked, and that can cause the pushrod to come off the clutch pedal when you press it. If this happens, you can shim the master cylinder on the U-bolt to compensate.
The original tranny mount, driveshaft, and torque arm will work.
I used an air hammer with a cutting bit, and an air die grinder with a cut-off wheel to make the hole. I bolted the tranny up & put the crossmember on, so then I could trace an outline on the floor board of where the shifter hole should be.
Hope this helps!
Now, does anyone know if LS1 Edit will be capable of re-programming an A4 car to think it's an M6?

I am in the process of doing the opposite....m6 to a3...but there is not that much CPU work involved

What are you doing with your old 6-speed setup? I may buy it from you. Where is Elk Grove? I'm originally from Southern Illinois, and have family there.

Thanks NBM! The biggest thing I was worried aboutw was the master cylinder and getting under the dash to work with the pedals.

No problem! your welcome! I was dreading the pedals too. It's really not that hard, it's a direct bolt-in replacement.
