The 4L60 is based on the 700r4,the 4L80 is based on the th400.

What is the difference between the 2 transmisions? Will both bolt up to the same applications? Are the gear ratios the same?

I have built several 700R-4's but have yet to try one of theses... <img src="images/icons/confused.gif" border="0">

The 4L80-E also has a terrible 2.48 1st gear compared to the 4L60-E's 3.06 1st gear.

You can get a 2.75 1st gear for the 4L80E, the tranny is about 75# heavier than a 4L60E.
