Default Pro Thruster 4000?

I talked to Mike at Yank today. I am looking to bump up to the next level in a convertor. Mike suggested that he could build me a Pro Thruster 4000, with an STR of 2.86. Mike said that this convertor would give me great 60ft times on ET streets, and would also be an awesome convertor for street racing, especially from a roll. I run around on the road on my Welds with BFG DR's, and know that they are not the stickiest, but they're better than a plain radial. Anyone out there with a similar convertor that can give me some feedback? I don't think I want to go much higher on stall with no heads or cam, and Mike seems to think that the Pro Thruster with a 4000 stall would keep me around the sweet spot. Really not too worried about streetability, my car only sees about 5k miles a year. Thanks, Bill.

You will need ET Streets to hook that converter. You might get lucky with DR at MIR on a good day.. but you will spin any other time.

I plan on running an ET Street at the track, and my DR's on the street. How is this convertor on the street? Is it good from a roll? Which convertor are you running Wilwaxu?

I've ran a TP-4400 & now have a UT-4600. I run 315 Nitto DR on the street. It doesn't hook up real well on the street... but can be "pedal'd".

If your looking at a street tire, I HIGHLY recommend the Nitto's. The perform MUCH better than regular radials and they good in most types of weather.

4000 stall is fine on stock heads.

I have a YTP 4000 but the STR is lower, which for street racing would be better; however it will feel a tad looser than the unit Mike is suggesting.

3.73s reduce the looseness compared with 3.23s, but are a little tricker to launch on the street.

Thanks for the help guys. I'll probably order it within the next week. Ragtop 99 has a good point about the STR and 3.73's, I'll probably get the STR knocked down to a 2.5 or so if Yank will do it.

Mike can do it. By starting with a YTP 4400 and reducing the stall to 4000/4200, he can bring the STR down to about 2.3/2.4 and increase top end efficency too.

gets tricky to change the stall and not have it effect the STR. When you start from a given design, there is a high corrleation between stall speed changes and STR.

umm, yeah I know that. Mike told him to go with a TP-4000 with a 2.86 STR. I think he should leave it at that STR.

I fact I would suggest a TP-4400.. but I'm bias <img src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" border="0">

Popular piece. Just ordered one Monday.

Mike and I both run at the same track, so I left the stall to him, since he knows my ride (lots of bolt ons, 3:73's, stock heads/cam) and the erratic nature of our track (Centerville, AR). Mike also suggested something in the 4000-4200 range.

Should be fun.
