As I read in an ongoin debate about replacing the stock flexplate.....My question is that i called a good buddy of mine at my local GM dealer and asked about buying an earlier model since mine was an 01...(lot cheaper with buddy discount over the TCI) but he said that 98-02 showed the same part number you guys think its a better one, or all of them have been superceded to the new "lighter" 01-02 style...Thanks

 

yeah they don't make the older one anymore.

 

I got one in new condition from valvegod a couple
of years back. It's a much sturdier piece because
it has more, smaller, better-spaced holes in it (web
is more robust) for the flex.

You might check smcperformance.com and see if
there're any more left in the back.

 

If I were you, I'd just pop for the TCI (SFI approved).
They aren't that expensive, and if or when you start going
10's you will need one to pass NHRA tech anyway.

I have the TCI flexplate and I like my legs attached.

 

with ls6 motor/cam/bolt ons/stall i should be fine with stocker flex plate wont I? Ill be around 400rwhp maybe im guesstimating...any input is appreciated..Thanks!

 

i've seen broken flexplates on bolt on cars.

 

Early or late style flexplates, or both?
