What Stall?? Ok, a 224/224 lsa 14 and some lt's are goin in soon. Right now my car reaches full power by 3000rpms?I want to keep it daily drivable especially since it is right now. I was gonna go w/a 3000 stall. Since I make full power by 3000rpm should I stick w/a 3000 stall or go higher. Also which stall specifically should I get and how much do they run?

Take a look in "Automatic Transmission". More there about stalls than you probably want to know and a ton of knowledgeable people to ask questions of. Yank and Fuddle hang out in that Forum, also.

There are other things to look at. If you ever want to shoot nitrious you are going to want a smaller stall like 3200 plus you want to maintain driveability so I wouldn't over 4000. Best advice is find someone that has one and see about going for a ride or maybe even a test drive. Just my .02.
i would get a SS3200 yank or SS3400 yank, both around 700 with a group purchase, you dont need to go 4000 stall if you want a daily driver, my dad has a 224/224 lsa 12 and he has a tt3000 yank and he is pulled a best of 1.57 60ft and went 11.47 at 117.77. His converter actually feels almost exactly like stock. My ss3600 is very streetable too but there is a small difference in my and his. hope this helps

The Yank SS3800 or SS4000 will be a good street driver, but if you want the most at the track or racing from a roll go with our PT4000 with you gears and cam.

my car has a fuddle 3600 stall, i really like it, the previous owner had it put on so i dont know how much he paid for it, but fuddle is a great company and has very reasonable prices. drives very well, except it is a little loud while cruising, since it has a rumbler exhaust.
While the 3.73s do allow higher stall speeds to feel more streetable, the major element most people forget is that they also require less stall speed for great performance. It is a two sided coin that many people forget to turn over. I have been running a 3400 stall in my 3.73 geared Trans Am for several months, and even with my f13 cam, I can light the tires pretty much through second on the street. Aside from that, low end remained a blast on the street. Part throttle with the setup is just fun. For a daily driver with a 224 cam (which I ran for about 2 years) I simply don't see a need to go to a 4000 stall speed. Sure if it were a track first car it would gain a little, but that doesn't sound like your goal to me.

It sounds like you are on the right track, the transgo is a great shiftkit and I have used the Supercooler for years to great results.

instead of the yank ss for 800+... go with a high po fuddle 4000/2.5 ish.. get the same performance for 505$ right now on sale.. they also have a 100% trade in thing n the first year if ur not happy with it and 60% second year or something

Since I am kinda new @ this, when the stall conv was explained to me I basically understood it as being able to laucn @ a higher rpm where I am making my power, and when my car shifts @ wot then the revs fall to where the stall is instead of going back down to like 1500 or wherever stock is, so I am always in my powerband. The one thing I dont understand is, if I am making full power @ 3000, why is everyone telling me to get 3500-4000 stall?
There is no way you're making full power at 3000 rpms. The stock peaks at like 4200 rpms for torque and around 5900 for hp I think (don't quote me, but unless you redline at 4000rpms, you're peaking much later than 3000).
BTW, unless your car is not a d/d and is strictly raced at a well prepped track with slicks, you won't get any traction at all with a 2.5 str verter and 3.73 gears.

I have a full power band reaching from about 3000 - 6200. Car was tuned and rev limiter switched to 6200. Also I wasnt gonna go 2.5st i was thinking around 3000 but im prob going w/a 3200 or 3400. Plus its a d/d but I use slicks to run bout 50% of time.

i have a 224 cam and i have a 3200 vig and i love it. i also drive my car about 15,000 miles a year and it is great on the street and it performs great at the track also. if you go with vig i would say 3200 cause they stall a little higher than advertised, if you go with another company i would say like a 3400-3500.

I'd look at the SS3400 or 3800 if you want more kick.
