Would this work well together?
Would this work well together? I've got a tr 224/224 114 cam w/ most bolt ons, stock 3:23 gears, etc. I'm considering getting a super yank 3500 stall w/ 1.6 STR from a friend. I don't think it locks up however. This car is my daily driver as well, so would I better getting one that locks up or will it really make that big of a difference? Thanks

The Super Yank 3500 is a great converter we have sold close to a 1000 of them for the LS-1 cars, but it was made to run with 3.73 gears and with the 3.23 it will put down some nice back to back times at the track and pull strong from a roll, but might feel a little loose around town.
You should get it checked out before being installed as any trash that happens to have found its way into the converter will end up in your transmission.

You need to check out the Stall Torque Ratio (STR) when considering a stall and matching it to your gears. IMO, a 1.6 str with 3.23s would be WAY too loose around town. IMO, if you want a nice tight converter for around town driving, you should look for a stall with an str in the 2.2-2.4 range.

I also agree i think that ur STR is to low not only for around town but performance, with those gears u could definately shoot for a higher STR, i would also look for a 2.2ish STR. I also give a vote for Fuddle cause well thats where i bought mine, u get great customer service and a great price.
