Default Shift cable bracket help. Now with picture

I changed the pan on my TH400 to a TCi deep pan, and after I was done with it I couldn't figure out how the shift cable bracket that attaches to the oil pan goes in place. I thought I had it right, but then I start the car the shifter moves back and forth without much effort and the trans is still in neutral. Any instructions on how to do it? I am in no rush to get it done as its winter now..but still would like to get it done. Thanks

It just is held in by two of the pan bolts, can't
remember which two now but recall one of them
was abnormally long. Expect that the two that
it will barely reach, under tension, are them. But
you want to be sure the detent lever position
and shifter position, agree.

I had to get all new bolts at the hardware store
when I put my super-deep cast TCI on, because
stockers came up way short?

But you want to be sure the detent lever position
Thats the part that I cant figure out. I got the bracket bolted to the pan, but then the shift lever that goes on the bracket is what confuses me.

I know the picture isn't very clear, but basically the shiny part looks like a fork, and I can see were the cable is supposed to slide into, but the cable has the black metal "clip" on it that stops the cable from going in the fork. Do I have to remove that black clip, slide the cable in the fork, and then re-insert the clip? Thanks
