Default How do you know?

How do you know if your car has a small stall in it? My car when I am manualy shifting it I can tach it up to say 4500 and let off the gas and the tach will instantly drop to 500rpms and hold until I hit the gas agin then it will jump back to around 4000-4500 depending on how much everything has slowed down. Been poundering on this for some time and me and my friend cant figure it out. He has a 99' TA and his doesn't do that but he has like 3.23 or 3.43 in his where my car a 99' camaro has 2.73's in it and my car will smoke the tires off compared to his. Any thoughts on this would be greatly appreciated thanks.....

Put the car in 2nd, really pull the e-brake fight, mash the brake peddle to the floor, and give it gas to see how high you can get the rpms before the tires brake loose or the car stalls. Of course I wouldn't do this too many times, it's not exactly easy on the tranny.

My 4k stall will go all the way up to 4000 rpms before the tires break loose. So if it's stock, I would expect you not to be able to get it over 1800 rpm or so, 2k max.

Does your stall fight you to try and take off are is their little to no resistance? Kinda like you hvae a manual and you have the clutch pushed in and dump it at 4000 rpm's?

no, the car will roll forward a little from idle, but it is "mushy" down low in the rpms. More like a clutch that slips down low.

63k miles, 400 rwhp na and a 150 wet shot on top of that. My stock tranny is still kicking. I said it's not easy on the tranny, but doing it once isn't going to kill the trans.
