my stock trans and yank3000 both took a dump with the best N20 pass in my signature..(yes I fried a yank, and they say it's impossible).......on my second trans now with a SS3600 yank

Yes, it can be done, but be prepared to go thru the unit soon, as the torque & horsepower capacity "are not there". There are always exceptions to the rule, but I would not go against it. T As you can see, the small diameter torque converter & high stall are what are a "big" help in keeping this unit alive, before doing any internal modifications. This is something that I have been saying over the last 10+ years, that this is the "first" problem that needed to be addressed on any LT1 or LS1 transmission, is getting "rid" of the "heavy" stock torque converter, thereby reducing driveline "shock", this alone will help the transmission to shift quicker. In the LS1, by going to a 9.5" lockup, you will lose over 30+ pounds of weight, (quite a lot) some what more than the LT1 15-17lbs loss, still a vast improvement. I think that you can see that this is a "big" improvement, even before you start adding the HD components to the unit.
