Default T/C in LT1 VS LS1

Been reading around about converters and ive come to a stump. Almost everyone that gets a 3400+ T/c has great times, but thats in an LS1. Then you see people in LT1s with 3400+ not doing so hot. I understand that there both totaly differnent beasts, but what stall would make an LT1 perform at best?

It's all about where the car makes its power and torque. LS1's make 345 hp @ 5600 rpm's and 350 tq @ 4400. Alot of our power is up high in the rpm's so 3400-4000 stalls with upper 4K shift extensions really wake up our cars and help keep us in our powerband.

The LT1 on the other hand makes 275 HP @ 5200 and 325 TQ @ 2400. The torque for the LT1 is alot lower in the rpm range so keeping the LT1 in its powerband takes alot less converter. Generally speaking, most LT1 guys run a 2600-3000 stall. Seems like 2800 is the most popular size I see going into them.

But adding bigger cam usually raises the powerband and thus the stall size can increase as well. I hope this helped.
