Need some answers real quick.. we were going to install my TCI SF3000 today.. I got on to get a little more info on the install.. some questions I have now.. Do I really need to take the exhaust off?? Its all welded so I would have to cut it, and that would suck.. Do I really need to drill the flexplate to 7/16th like the TCI page says?? Does anyone know the STR on this converter or are they "made to order".. I think that covers the questions.. I am honestly considering paying my buddy to do it.. He has done a few now and knows what he is doing.. 150 to install the converter, guage and cooler.. cant beat the price, just wanted to be able to say "I did it".. but might be changing my mind now
For the exhaust it depends on whether or not you can really get into the tranny with it still on. In my case, the answer was no...
For the TCI bolts, I can say a friend of mine bought a TCI verter, and the answer was yes...
For the str: Dunno, but you don't really need to know that before 11AM do ya?
You might wanna kick your friend some $$ so he will "Help" you. That way you'll still get it done and still learn some things about how it's done, but the whole install won't be on your shoulders.

STR is 2.2:1
My flexplate did not need drilled. But be aware there
is one hole that's round and two that are elongated,
get the round one first (the prime locator) and let the
TC slop until all three bolts are threaded. If they say
you need to drill, at least have the bolts in the converter
(to be sure they are right) and an adequate-size bit on
hand (or a reamer maybe).
