Questions: New to Automatics
Questions: New to Automatics I have a few questions about automatic transmissions in general. I have previosly owned stick cars, so my 98 A4 Z28 is my first performance auto.
What do these terms mean, I have heard them refered to alot, and I am clueless to what they mean!

Hot lapping - running back-back (or even just sustained)
high-output operation without a cooldown period. Stock
fan settings are stupid hot, the trans fluid will not cool
well just sitting. Get yourself the biggest trans cooler you
can find and get some means to either override the fans
to "on" (fan switch) or reprogram them.
"Flash" stall is where the RPM will swing up to, between
full motor power and the inertial load of the car. Higher and
more related to advertised stall speed than "foot stall" on
the brakes, which cannot hold the multiplied 1st gear torque.
