Disappointing TH400\Gearvendors results
Here it is.
ET 1/4 mile 12.6480
ET 1/8 mile 8.0161
RT 2.5322
MPH 106.3508
60 ft. 1.6681 (sucky track)
I have the YANK UT 4400, ET Drags 26" /w tubes and borla catback and a lid. My previous best was 12.72 @ 110.1 with the stock converter and 4l60e. It seems the TH400\Gearvendors combo is to heavy for a stock motor even with the big stall. Well there you have it.

Yes it was my first time at the track no I did not try to use any the OD gears... I need to get used to shifting them. I just used the normal TH400 gears.

Re: Disappointing TH400\Gearvendors results
That's really not that bad especially since you werent even using the GV unit at all. I ran a 12.74 @ 110 with my 6spd in the car that was on a 1.98 60'. After putting a TH400 with a 4500 stall and a ford 9" rear end I managed a 12.56 @ 108 on a 1.74 60' with it. considering the added weight and parasitic loss of the TH400 and 9" I was very pleased with the results. My car is basically the same as yours I just have an airlid and exhaust cutout on it. My raceweight at the time of the 12.56 run was 3570. I wouldn't worry about it though. Dont expect to pick much up as far as times goes when you add weight and parasitic HP loss. BUT the plus side is now you have a bulletproof drivetrain AND an overdrive

My tires are 26x10x15. Maybe I should get ET streets they don't kill mph quite as much?

Re: Disappointing TH400\Gearvendors results
I think ET drags are a little too much tire for you.....
I will be doing a test with my car pretty soon...I just put in a TH400 and 12-bolt w/3.73
with the J stator 4500 stall...
I made like 370rwhp when it was a 6-speed so I assume I will lose somewhere from 20-25rwhp through the new drivetrain...I'm hoping for 11.7's on my "stock" bilstein suspension

BTW I have a 3.06 first gear in my TH400
Well atleast it won't break...

Re: Disappointing TH400\Gearvendors results
if i race you at the track and you win but i trap 4mph higher...will you give a ****? i wouldnt. be happey you have a trans/drivetrain that wont break. what rear/gears do you have? also, i would be worth while to stick with a TP4400 or maybe a 10" 4500 stall. i dont think ive ever seen a good time from a Ultra Thruster or Ultra Yank. Gear up in the rear and USE the OD. id wont even sound like your shifting at the track the gears will be split so much. thats what its for! 3.06-1.52 is a lot...split that in half and thats less shift extension.
to recap:
AT LEAST 3.89's
USE the GVOD
Switch to a TP4400, and stall it as high as you can, then stab it and shift.

Re: Disappointing TH400\Gearvendors results
Hmm now when I let off the gas and coast I hear a awful noise... Almost like a grinding... It sounds like my gears... Did I just blow up my 10 bolt?

Wow, I can't believe that car is still on the 10-bolt...my car is almost ready to come out...this monday I'm picking it up, then a week after I am going to the track, I will make sure to make a big post about the dyno #'s and the track #'s

Re: Disappointing TH400\Gearvendors results
Your results are pretty typical for a TH400 swap. What people don't understand is that the 4L60E is a much faster tranny than the TH400 (stock for stock). The 4L60E has the awesome 3.06 1st gear (which really helps your 60' times) and has lighter internals with less parasitic drag.
Downside is the 4L60E won't stand up to 500+ rwhp for very long. A TH400 is pretty bulletproof. If you don't plan on running you torque and hp into the 500+ range, you may have wished you stayed with a faster "built" 4L60E.

Re: Disappointing TH400\Gearvendors results
I'm sure you could of ran a 12.3 off the brake..or if you had some full drag suspension and took out a little weight it would be a 12.0 stock motored car...
