Can someone tell me what makse the LS1 converter different ? Yes I know the cover and likely the pilot,maybe a better question is how to ID the difference in a LS1 vs the old generation.Thanks

Are you looking for stock identification, there is a really simple way to tell. Look at the sticker on the side. If it says TMAX, TMBX, TLBX, TLCX, then it is a "new style" converter.

late 4l60-e ls-X style converters are 6.500 tall lugs to Hub and the other styles are 5.900 for a quick style check
