Ok..my question is how can I get the rubber hose under the brake booster for the resivor with out having to loosen anything part of the brake cylinder and booster. I got the old unit out but the rubber hose popped off the resivor so that made it easy to slide the hose under the booster. I let mine slip off too when installing the master, and couldn't get it back on (with the Mcleod) so I had to take the dern thing back out. I couldn't find a way to get the hose back on with the master installed. Sorry <img border="0" title="" alt="[Sad]" src="gr_sad.gif" /> If someone has found a way, maybe they'll chime in?

I slipped mine in from underneath and behind the booster. It took a little convincing, but it went in without having to unhook anything.

It's not really that hard, but you do need someone there to help. It is easiest if there is one person in the car holding the bracket for the pedal out of the way so that the u-bolt can go in the holes. The easiest way for the person under the hood to do it is by standing next to the car (driver's side) facing the front of the car. Right hand on the passanger side of the brake Master and left hand on the driver's side (basically standing on your head) don't know why, but this really does seem to be the easiest way to get your hands in the correct place so that they can bend the way they need to to get the u-bolt in place. Well I was able to slip the resivor under the booster and get it into the correct spot, but I think that a little fluid might have leaked out when doing this. Not sure if that will cause a problem or not. I was unable to get the u-bolt into the hole due to me being by myself and the metal braket covering 1/2 the hole so I can't push the bolt thru. Do you think that if a little fluid did leak out that I will need to bleed the unit or should I still be ok?? It is the Cartek unit that comes prebleed from them. While you have help there, to get the u-bolt in, you might as well bleed it just to make sure. You know the old saying, better safe than sorry! <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" />

 

As long as the fluid level does not drop too low in the resivior you should not have a problem. Take the top of and pull out the black rubber boot and make sure that the level is still up to the fill line inside. If not get some DOT5 fluid and top it off. Its does not take much. Getting the holes aligned is the hardest part in putting the master back in. I could not do it by myself. You may try getting one side in just enough to get the nut back on and then use a screwdriver poked through the other hole to keep the bracket lined up and the push the screwdriver back out with the other end of the bolt. But it is much easier with a secnd set of hands.

 

Good thinking...But I have heard that it is a huge PITA to bleed the master. Where is the bleeder plug on the unit? Thanks..Michael

Well I got the master in the car, but now I am unable to put the car in gear when running. I have very little pedal resistance. Now my question is How do I bleed the unit? I have read the other post but I have never bled anything before and I do not know where the bleed plug is. I am loking at the old throw out bearing and is it the screw above the quick connect? If so how do you get at it from under the car and when you turn it where does the fluid come out?? Thanks Michael

It will be a 2 man job to bleed the system.

The bleeder screw is right above the quick disconnect of the slave in the bellhousing.You will need a socket to get to it. ( sorry, don't remember the size )

You will need to pump the clutch pedal a few times and hold it to the floor. While you hold the pedal down, have someone loosen the bleeder screw. ( careful, as brake fluid will come out )
Make sure and have the person tighten the bleeder screw BEFORE you let up on the clutch pedal.

Repeat many times untill you can't hear any air come out with the fluid.

Thanks for the reply..well I had 3 people on this one in the car one watching the fluid and I was under cracking the bleeder. After 2 days and many hours I have given up. I am going to have to get my car towed to Izzo's of FLP to have them check it out. The peddal doesn't get firmer and when we bleed it the peddal will not come off the floor, but if I just pump the peddal w/out cracking the bleeder it comes up fine. I am at a loss. Man does this suck...Thanks again for the help..Michael
