Default Finally done it, the rossler is almost dead

After about a year & a half, with numerous nitrous runs, beat to hell & back & throwing all the abuse I could at my Rossler 4l60e. Its just now starting to slip in 3rd & OD. Normal driving you cant tell that it slips but it roll into the gas in 3rd or OD it chatters/vibrates real bad & the RPMs jump to about 5000 but it doesnt go anywhere fast. This trans has been a good one with my stock motor & the 408 with TNT 200. I beleive we screwed it up on the dyno, I went to spray the TNT, got the rpms up, locked the converter with HPtuners Then let her rip. It didnt do much but go straight to the rev limiter. Needless to say it didnt like to be locked on the juice well at least that much juice. This trans was not been refreshed when I swaped motors, I changed the fluid & filter & that was it. Changed the fluid the other night & it was black & burnt smelling so its screwed. Called Carl Monday & im sending it back to him for a new rebuild. It was fun!

Im thinking of trying one. I talked with Carl & they have one for the 4l60e now. They were trying to talk me into getting one but Im still a little weary of it, but It may be worth a shot.

Nice...must of been fun. I think my current trans is almost toast so a rebuild is in order.

How fast, mph, have you gone on the street? That is, if you even race on the street...

Im interested in the top end with a auto 4spd or even a th400, and would like to know how it can be achieved.

good luck brotha...that nos hit, wet shot right?

EDIT: Nice hood and motor package!!

With the 3.73's Ive had it to 155 just to get it on video, but that wasnt a race. Its went 11.0's at 126 in the 1/4 N/A with the car still in 3rd. Ive only got to run it once on the jug & it ran out of nitrous way before the 1/4 so I just put it in N and coasted through the 1/4, that pass it went 10.81 @118mph. You are right the TNT F1 kit is a dual nozzle wet kit Defiantly packs a punch with the 200 shot jets. Car made 440hp N/A with a maxed out LS6 intake & stock TB. & 620hp/637ftlb TQ with the TNT 200 shot and a bottle pressure of around 900psi. Thanks for the comment!

155...was that in 3rd? NAHHHH!!!!

must of been 4th, how you manage the gear change to 4th withouth damaging the clutch pack?

No problem, just recognizing good taste... (cough, check out my sig, cough!!)

You got the fast manifold now right? IT should of gotten you close to 460-470rwhp n/a right?

when i had a 4l60e with 26" tires...3.73 gears. I could lock up the converter and hit 150ish at 7300rpms. If you had 28" tires i can see it doing 155 with the converter locked in 3rd

manually lock up the converter at wot? In 3rd? Wouldn't that over heat the converter?

Does it chatter only while locked up, or does it rev up and do nothing? If it was only during lockup i'd say you fried the tc clutch. Either way, thats a long time for a 60E to last under a 408, let alone being a nitrous sprayed 408.

No the 155 was on the interstate in OD, it traps 125+ in D at the track. YEah I got the FAST now, so it should be up there now.

The trans just revs real high in 3rd/OD & doesnt pull hard during and after the lock up. I thought it may have been the TC but its only in those two gears so I kinda rulled that out.

yep, that 3-4 clutch is on its way to thta 4l60e clutch-cloud in the sky brotha!!

Hmm...maybe shifting at WOT to 4th is what got your 3-4 clutch toasted. or at least helped it out?

How you shift into it anyway when you did 155?
