Default Stall?

Hey, I was wondering what stall I should go with. I have a 2600 stall now with just headers but in a bit i will be running h/c and a turbo. I was looking at a 3500-3800 stall but lately iv been looking at bigger. Is going with a 4000-4500 stall really worth the extra loss in drivability? Is there a loss in drivability? Thanks for the help in advance.

If you're going with a head/cam + turbo package, you will not need a lot of converter unless you go with a(pair of) monster turbo(s) capable of 1000+ horsepower. A Yank PY3400 is just fine for a streetable turbo package.

If I was going with a turbo on a H/C LS1, I would pick something with a flash stall around 3400-3600. Keep in mind that the more power an engine makes, the more stall rpm you'll see out of the convertor. A 3500 on a stock LS1 could end up being around a 4000 or more on a big power turbo car. Then you have to worry about STR, depending which tire you want to race it on. I think you should do a search and get some opinions about the various converter brands, then call them and let them know your set up and plans.

Right on, my 3600 does not behave as a 3600. Its way over 4000.

yes, i would suggest a 3k stall with that setup..there's no use stalling out the mad bottom end tq and hp you'll have with that, it would be a waste.
