50mph Roll Race-Need Help
My car is in the process of getting Patriot Heads w/ TXSpeed Torquer Cam, and 150 TNT wet kit.
I just bought a TCI 3800 Stall Converter to accomadate for the larger cam.
What do you guys think I shoud do with the Rear End???
I have 3.23's for the car now, but think I should change..... what gear should I use if Im racing from a 50-130mph roll?? 3.42?-3.73? or stick with the 3.23's??? .........or go with a 2.73?
I just want to make sure the car will perform its best from a roll on the street.
I know I'm not the best canadate with an automatic racing from a roll and thats why this guy wants to race me. He says I have no chance.
His best trap speed was about 126mph!
So I gotta make sure mine can hang top end.... Last edited by F-Body Garage; Feb 26, 2006 at 02:30 PM.
But if you're racing top end, I would stay with the 3.23. Any more than that will put you into OD at WOT sooner, which has been discussed here to be BAD for your transmission. You really want to stay 1-2-3 for racing.

Also, as a onus, you can try to get a lock-up switch for the converter and hit it arounf 130-140 or top of 3rd....this way 3rd will lock and act like another gear, gaining in mph.
good luck, with a /c package and a 150 shot you should be fine. Just be careful of a 3-1 wot shift, spraying through the gears and wot into o/d.
good luck...get that punk!!! oh, and be safe!!!!

Should I send it back and get the 3800 or is someone trying to tell me somthing?????
Remember I'm using 3.23 and racing from a roll....do i stck with what they sent me or switch it back to the 3800?
that awd is his best friend and you gotta watchout for that initial hit. Just like you would on a 1320 tree, hit it befor the green, so you leave ON green, slam down on the gas before that third honk.
I think you might be fine but one thing is that you might want to up the shot to a 125-150 just to be sure.
What the str on that 4000 stall? Efficiency? The 4000 will put you more in that sweet spot when you step on it and should have a higher shift extension. Therefore you'll hit harder and stay more in hte powerband when you shift.
good luck!!

to run 128+ mph at what...~3600 raceweight, you'll need like 485 rwhp? or somewhere in the neighborhood...the heads/cam will probably get you close to 410 or so...add a 150 shot and you are golden. just start saving for a transmission. also, your 4k stall just became a 4800 stall on a big shot, don't forget that...
you will need some HELLA STICKY tires to hook from a 50 roll with all that power. he will hook no prob, but probably have a little turbo lag unless he brakeboosts.
torque is your friend, ESPECIALLY on the jug...i think you can take him with the heads/cam + 150 shot. (assuming it's 150rwhp)
after the 3rd honk and you hammer it activating your n2o system...can you say instant massive torque? factor this + your stall multiplying it...he won't have a snowball's chance in hell.
Just waiting for TX Speed to call me back and see what they think.. Most are sayin 3800 is the way to go. I seem to think that as long as its tunned it sould be good..
