Are there 2 different lengths for the TH400?
I have read about a short and long tail TH 400? Can anyone confirm this?
Does anyone know which one will work without modifying the T56 crossmember?
Thanks,
Kevin

Yes, the long tailshaft units were used in the big "B-body" cars. Short tailshafts in A-bodies and F-bodies. Check the thread below ... https://ls1tech.com/forums/automatic-transmission/465992-anyone-know-size-th400-short-tail-driveshaft.html.

Do they all have the mount in the same location, with just a longer/shorter tail?

Damn.. That is exactly what I needed!! Thanks Jerry.
It is only a 1" difference between the mounting points in the two most common tailshafts, so I guess it wouldn't matter which crossmember I used, I may just have to slot the hole for the mount a little.
