Full weight car with a th350?
Full weight car with a th350? I'm planning on going to a th350 soon...But I've had a couple guys tell me that the car is too heavy, and that I should go with a th400. Any truth to this? I already bought the trans, and I'm in the process of building it with all the good stuff(Kolene steels, Alto frictions, kevlar).
I'm hoping it will be fine...It's going in a bolt-on ls1 with some spray...So probably 11s at most on a drag radial.

1.5 60' is nothing for any type or race transmission really. I've seen stalled 4L60E's w/ Nitto Drags cutting 1.6's all day long and higher stalls w/ slicks that are cutting high 1.4's.
I'm guessing it'll do a pretty good 60' just cause of the stall. I have a set of BFG d/r's and some suspension stuff...So if it hooks it should move out.
The trans should be in as soon as I get the coverter made and get the x-member...Waiting for the tax return for that. I wanna see how it does.

These transmissions typically are bought to Run on Slicks so You probably wont even need it built w/ that tire. From the looks of your Sig, the 4.10's in the 12 bolt will not be worth it for driving, nor will they be worth it for racing on a spray- something more like 3.73's or 3.70's 3.90 at the most i would say would be ideal for a street driven auto-- Yes it will give you your 60, but depending on your setup...from the looks of it i'd stick with the lower #'s for the best results.

I ran a th350 for 4 years in my 3400lb car. The last 2 years I had it the car ran low 9's all day. It was 3407lbs with me in it. I got almost 2years out of a th350 before it would start slipping. If you have a good tranny guy he can take care of you. I you need a transmission let me know. I can get you a kick azz th350 or th400. I sold cablebandit a th400 and he has a 3700lb car that runs in the 9's and he has had no problems with it.

Verdad Gallardo I haven't put any of that stuff in the car yet...Still looking for a 12-bolt. I was planning on staying with a 6-speed, that's why I wanted 4.10s. I'll probably go with 3.73s though, and run stock 3.42s for now.
I won't be done with that new setup till probably next year. I'm buying a new shortblock to rebuild and build with all the new stuff...Then just swap it in over a weekend. I'm thinking of getting a set of pistons and rods too so I know I can spray the **** out of it and it won't let loose.
