How do u guys shift your auto tranny when you are racing? when i try to downshift mine hesitates and i put it back to D. Is there a problem or is it not shifting because of my rpms? thanks

 

its not good to be shifting the 4l60e, its not made for that.

 

What car and tranny do you have? If you are talking about a regular 4L60E then you shouldn't be manually shifting it at all. Put it in 3 or D and let the computer do its job. Manually shifting 4L60E's will cause extra wear and tear ending with premature tranny failure.

If you are talking about a TH400 with manual valve body then it was meant for manual shifting and I'm sure a TH400 user will chime in and help you out.

Yes, you can downshift a 4L60E, but you must do it as downshifting a manual transmission (double clutching). You have to give it throttle when you backshift the lever, once the engine rpm's match the gear you are in, (less than 1/2 a second) you can let off of the throttle, and let the engine do the braking now. If you back shift the lever without giving it throttle, you can ruin the transmission.
