times are about acceleration at low speed, which is torque
and torque multiplication. I see most low- to moderately
modded cars as having near flat engine torque from 3K
on up to where airflow starts to fade. So I don't think 500
RPM give or take will make the same difference as a 1.8:1
STR vs a 2.7:1, not uncommon in 4000-range converters.
Provided your tires stick that's a 50% increase in rear wheel
torque over stock, on top of any gain from being in a better
torque position.
On the negative side in this case the TH400 has a pretty
short first gear, way less than the 4L60E if memory serves
and this cuts back on your bonus.
