Default my transmission or torque converter broken?

my trans or TC broke a few weeks back and i havnt had a chance to take it to a shop yet. im just wondering which you guys think is broke. the trans is a FLP level 4 i bought and installed last January. i bought the TC at the same time. it's a TCI3000 stall. since then i put about 10k miles on the trans and tc.

now to the problem. i went to the bank one day and on my way back home it wouldnt move out of first. then 1st gear wouldnt even work. if i let it sit for a little bit first would work until i let off the gas then it wouldnt work again. the same goes for reverse.

so what does this sound like to you guys? i figured my trans would last more than a year this time that's why i went with a built trans. i've got some money now so in the next week or two ill take it to a guy i knows trans shop.

if the car doesn't move at all, sounds like the converter.

Could be the converter... Mine moved a little bit at really high RPMS when it died. When they took the tranny apart it was toast (along with the converter) However, when the converter goes, you may as well kiss the tranny goodbye too I guess... Maybe they will do a rebuild for you cheap?

I had a TC crash on me once in my truck ... it sounded like a colidascope (sp) (metal being swished in a 2 litre bottle on fluid). There was a lot of slippage. The transmission was riddled with metal contaminates .. had to be rebuilt AGAIn .. (long story)

Sorry .. I have no good news. Fact is ... I've never known of an AT issue with gears not working that ended up with anything other than a rebuild.

I do hope it turns out better than what I've seen.

Good luck!
