Not including install I've done some research and parts would be anywhere from 2500>2900

Ditto on Steve's post. Just doing a Th400 on mine now. Got $3390.00 in tranny, converter, cross member and shifter, no fluid or drive shaft yet. So if done right, you are pushing the high side of $4,000. Not cheap but you only do it once.

If your patient you can get a good deal on a used setup.
I got these for about 1800

Rossler TH400 with JW ultrabell, reverse manual valve body, and transbrake.
Coan 4000 stall with antiballooning plates.
Dennys Nitrous ready driveshaft
B&M Hi Tek cooler with perma cool fan and braided tranny lines and AN fittings.

I then purchased
B&M SFI flexplate 153 tooth.
Tranny temp guage
BMR conversion crossmember with TA mount.
B&M Pro Stick shifter.

I have less than 2500 in the whole setup.

I'm swapping to a built th350 with a fuddle and stuff...I've got about 2 grand into it right now...Still gonna need some odds and ends. That's with running a stock flex plate and a stock shifter setup.

$2000 -$4000 depending on parts, used/new, and who builds it.

Would this tranny be the ideal thing to do if the 4l60e goes out?

I got my Rossler Terminator II TH350 (Transbraked, and RMVB) from a fellow user here, with Flexplate, TC, Xmember, Shifter, Cooler for $1650 shipped to Hawaii. I have enjoyed almost every minute of it, gas mileage takes a hit, but helps being on island. New, I priced out everything was looking at $3200 for comparable components.

The 4L80E is an expensive bastard, but one I may look into converting too.

You guys should shop aroud you can get very good rebuilds on th350s for $700 or so....maybe less.

And you can also get a Fuddle convertor that bolts up to your flex plate for $400ish

Stock drive shaft can be reused....with the long tail th350

You can use your stock shifter with a little modification.....

This swap does not have the break the bank.....

All that info you posted is not 100% accurate...you really should say "some can reuse stock DS". I was able to run my car with the stock DS, however, no way in hell I was going to race on it with only 3/4-1" installed depth. Sure the axle rotating upward on launch places it deeper in, but then there is wheel hop where the housing is moving and can offset the depth, bottom line, not all can use it. Yes, I have adjustable LCA's and centered the tires too.

you can either buy a crossmember with a built in TQ arm mount, get a body mount TQ arm or get a spacer/700r4 tail shaft/700r4 TQ arm clamshell put on your tranny and mount the TQ arm up just like stock.

My swap only cost me about $200, since I traded my M6 for a complete th350 setup. Try to trade your tranny for another one to avoid big costs
