Torque Management w/ Transgo
Pretty soon my Vig 2800 arrives and I'm going to have it installed but there are some questions/concerns I have about mixing this verter with a transgo shift kit and the deletion of TM. My car is an 01' which is well renowned for having the worst TM so here are the questions.
1. First and foremost, do I really need a shift kit (transgo) ?
2. Others have mentioned that the addition of a TC with a shift kit will aggreviate TM, is this true. Its been stated that the only way around this is to delete TM - Hmm, how long will my tranny live if I do this ?
3. Can TM be reduced instead of deleted, assuming I have a transgo installed. Is this really an option or should it just be outright deleted ?
4. Should I just leave the car alone, have the TC installed and leave well enough alone ?
I was planning on having everything installed and tuned all at once (once the 01 version of ls1edit is released), let me know how your 01/02 is working for you with your configs.
Thanks in advance.

Re: Torque Management w/ Transgo
after about a week on a vig3200 and the transgo, i havent had any problems, in fact the car seems to love the addition. however i know that i plan on resetting the ecm so it can relearn the correct shift points and then hopefully within the next 2 weeks i should have access to the 01-02 evaluation version of LS1edit and from there plan on altogether deleting the TM from the system bindings.

1) Need - no; but you'll probably like having it.
2) It won't make the TM worse, but you may notice it more. Deleting torque management increases the wear on the clutches.
3)Yes, through programming
4)I'd put the transgo kit in and probably use the 2 washer setting.

Re: Torque Management w/ Transgo
First off thanks for the quick replies and informative feedback, this really helps me build confidence on what I should do to the car.
XTCWS6 - let me know how your car runs after the relearn. Im curious to know if your still happy with your setup. Are you planning on having TM deleted or de-tuned ?
Couple more questions based on the posts though :
1. So TM is more obvious, not worse (thanks Ragtop), and it sounds like it's possible to reduce it with PCM programming. I'd like to know if the tuners out there are actually reducing TM or just deleting it.
2. IF TM is outright deleted and this does cause excessive wear on the clutches then from reading this write up I found http://www.txchange.com/transgo.htm ,it sounds like the addition of a Transgo would help reduce the friction on the internal materials within the Tranny. Does this sound correct or is this just marketing fluff ?
Maybe to bigger picture here is, what the hell does TM really do (other than promote longevity and softer more comfortable shifting) to our transmissions and why was TM increased on the later models ?
Thanks again....

Re: Torque Management w/ Transgo
There is a known TM issue with 01's with TC's and TransGO shift kits. On the 2-3 shift mine will cut fuel on 4 cyliders and pull timing, not letting it rev over 4500rpm's unless I pedal it.I have had 3 area's of TM removed from my pcm and still have this problem. I have called TransGo and they know all about the problem with this combination.
It seems ther are very few programmers that know how to beat this on the 01's, Mike Morgan and Ed Wright are the only ones I know of.

Re: Torque Management w/ Transgo
I was under the impresion that TM could not be entirely deleted even with LS1Edit. At least the guys with trucks can't get rid of it. Mine has it bad. My truck fall flat on it's face on the 1-2. I have a guy with a new Transgo kit he wants to sell me and I am planning a Yank 3000 in a few months. if there is a secrect to completly deleting TM let me know. Us over in the truck section are getting killed with it. Some have been able to reduce it but not all of it. I would guess I'm gaining more than 1/2 sec on my ET because of it. It's Really noticable with the cutouts open. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Eek!]" src="gr_eek2.gif" />

My speculation as to why TM is worse in 01 & 02 is due to the increase in power those cars are seeing from the factory.
