Default converter question/problem

Ever since I installed my 3000 stall converter, it unlocks and locks on the highway about every few minutes or so. The trans shifts fine and everything. Its just when I'm driving down the highway at around 60-70 it will stay locked, but every now and then it will unlock for a few minutes and then lock right back up. I know the converter isn't bad because I bought it from a guy that said its in excellent shape and didn't have very many miles on it. could it be a lock up tuning issue. could I have my tuner change the lock up points or something? thanks

My viglante 2800 in my vette is also doing the same thing! I was told to look at the misfire file and either turn it off, or raise the thresholds. Going back to the tuner on weds and I'll let you know how it works out.

i was also told it could be because of missfire and i thought it was picking up my cam as missfire (sometimes i throw i random cyl missfire). tonight i added more line pressure with hp tuners and after driving aorund for 30-35 mins it didnt do it....for some odd reason it might of fixed it.

If the pcm detects any misfires it will not allow the converter to lock. If you're right on the bubble with allowable number of misfires, I can see it locking/unlocking the converter. That'd be the first thing I'd check.

im not throwing any miss fire codes so i do not believe thats what was happening with my car. but my 02 sensors are dead so it might of been acting up. ever since i played with hp tuners it hasnt been doing that. just food for thought.

O.K. We adjusted the misfire tables to 32000 as jimmyblue suggested, and that fixed the problem. Thanks for the advice jimmyblue!

I had this problem recently, although not the entire time I've had the converter in. I took out my TR55's that had maybe 15-20k on them, and they're were done. Tossed some new ones in and it's perfect again.

Just thought I'd add that in there as something to check. It also didn't throw an SES light, even though I'm sure it was misfiring a little with the tired plugs.

I replaced my front o2 sensors and the ses light went away after 2 days, but the converter still does what I described in my first post. Any suggestions? I'm going to see my tuner in the next day or so, so I'm looking for some ideas to throw at him, and see if we can get this tuned out. thanks
