which one th-350 or th-400?
i am going to be putting a 408 stroker (ls1) on the juice, into my 93 T/A, it already has moser 12 bolt and 4:10. the motor made 731 rwhp 791 rwtq on a 200 shot on the dyno in a m6 vette, any help would be great, i am hoping to get 9's with this combo. so which trans should i go with, 350 or 400?

How about a built 4L80E? Sounds like you are going to put down some real power, but I bet you like to cruise on the street as well, right?

i would go with the 4l80e, but this is more of a drag car, very limited street use. i have a GTO to drive all the time, can the th-350 be built to handle that much power.

Pretty much the only advantage the TH350 has over the TH400 is it is lighter. I see alot of guys at the track that have TH350s and running in the 9s, so it is strong enough. It boils down to how reliable you want it to hold the power, if it will be ran alot at the track ... I would go TH400. Otherwise a TH350 should suffice.

I would go 400, I have had both and the added security knowing there is a 400 is worth the very little horsepower the 400 robs. Besides the savings from the 400 as compared to the 350. My 400 cost me a little more than half of what the 350 that never made a full pass cost.

My transmission builder talked me into a 400 instead of a built 350 because he said that the 400 didn't rob nearly as much horsepower as most people think and it is one strong SOB. I've read on another forum where it robs as little as 6 hp over the 350. Not enough to worry about in my opinion. As far as the weight goes, I was able to pick mine up with both hands. It didn't feel nearly as heavy as I thought it would. I think I weighed it ~ 135 lbs. I can't imagine the 350 being that much lighter.

Have you been on a dyno? I'd check your torque & hp curve before deciding on a stall. The closer you can come to your powerband the better!!! If you stall too high you'll end up missing some of your powerband through the converter

or should i go with a tighter converter, because on the nitrous my peak torque was much lower like around 3800 rpm, but the peak power was still at 6400 rpm and flat to 7000.
