My RPMs are around 500-1000 higher than stock depending on speed/throttle.

Just had a yank ss3200 and flex plate installed in vette and tuned by Mike Norris @ Next Level. 398/385, best $ spent.

You don't fully understand how a converter works.

It slips under throttle, not just when you brake stall it.

Unless it is locked up in third or fourth it is slipping.

I understand how it works. I know it makes the transmission slip etc., which is why the shifts are much softer when you put one in. But I think people over-dramatize the actual MPG loss.

How many MPG did you lose when you put a converter in?

Right now I get ~12 MPG city.

I don't have one in, but ALL the people that I personally know that have one in, have only lost about 1-2 MPG with city driving.

It depends on how you drive it, and how high the stall is. Keep in mind I have an LT1, so a bigger stall with you LS1 guys will give you worse gas mileage than a 3000-3200 stall would. I know YOU personally have a 3200, but I know MANY guys who have stalls, and their city driving was not effected THAT much.

What engines, mods, before converter city mileage, converter, and after converter city mileage did they have?

Mine didn't seem to be affected that much after my SS3600. Stock I would get a consistent 18mpg average per tank. With the same driving, after the exhaust I got 17. With the converter its now around 16. I am still untuned and with the stock air box so I am hoping I can get 1-2mpg back.
