I have a shift point of 6800 and wanna cross at 6900.Now I make peak hp at 6500 and carry it to 6700 and peak tq at 4500 and carry it to almost 4900.
I was looking at Yanks website and these to converters look tempting in a 4400 configuration?
Which of the 2 would keep the shift extension close to say 5500 to 5700?And which one would hit harder off the line but still be fairly efficent up top.If I have to I would lock one of them up so thats not an issue.I'm talking for MAX ET/MPH stout street/strip car like mine?

JS,
I have a UT-4600 w/3.73's in my stock internal car, it runs between 6100 - 6600. (car sounds like it's in one gear going down the track <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" /> )
It's a little much for the stock valvetrain.. but I think it would be perfect for a good aftermaket one.
The Ultra Yank has a much lower STR.. would hit alot softer off the line. Need to talk to ONYXSS. He had a UY-4400.

The UY is a smaller diameter converter. To the best of my knowledge there is no "stock configuration" now; it is a build to spec unit. High RPM and lots of gear are required.
IMO, the jury is still out on the UT 4600 & 4800. I'd keep an eye on JB's & Dave's 60' and see how they do. JB has cut some awesome 60' given his mods, but in the past was not consistently able to achieve them. Dave's 60' was good, but was with the capability of a YTP 4400; however he has a lot of tuning and set-up work before we can pass judgement on the converter.
The UT4800 looks great on paper (e.g. dyno test), but I wonder if that high a stall needs a transbrake to maximize the launch.
Just my view from the sidelines...

JS,
Like you and I discussed yesterday, the YPT4600 is the converter you're looking for. It will keep you shifts above 5700-5800 while still giving you high rwhp.

My problems with consistant 60fts had nothing to do with the converter... (My LPW cover was hitting the upper panhard support) Not to mention my 6 months in hell with TM.
A few weeks back when Joel L. and I were at MIR, my car ran 12 passes at a 1.55 or better with a best of a 1.52
Been running at a local track since (MD), worst 60ft out of 10 runs has been a 1.55
Just for comparision. My car with TM issues... (3401 raceweight)
TP-4400 & 3.23 best 1.62
4 weeks later..
UT-4600, Yank tranny & 3.23 - 1.56 (best 1.54)
Since TM has been removed the car has consistantly 60ft'd in the 1.5's. Since the suspension "obstruction" has been removed.. it's been consistantly 1.55 or better.
The UT hits the tires VERY hard. Most people think my car is a 6spd when watching it from the side lines. My problem with it.. is it's a little too much for my stock valvetrain. I think my car would be faster with a TP-4400.
Like Patrick G is saying.. if you looking for 5700-5800.. TP may be a better choice. But, I wonder how that big gear affects the converter? The 3.73's tighten mine up a little.. can imagine the 4.30's being even more....

Okay I have the belt on the PS on the street.
So thats a mute point.
I run 28in tall BFG T/A radial STREET tire so we both run the same speeds on the street.
EG 28/4.56 VS your 4.10/25.75.
I dont have A/C so u got me there.
I have FULL exhaust running to the back of the car too.Its FAIRLY quiet <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" />
I gotta tell ya the trailer a nice thing to have Terry.Makes racing the car alot more enjoyable. No worries if u break too.

Let's see you have 4.56 gears, no ac, no power steering, no exhaust.
I have 4.10 gears, ac, power steering, a really quiet exhaust, and the TCOM that locks my converter up at 40mph.
It sounds like my car is a lot more streetable than yours. Do you even own street tires for your car? I roll around on 17s most of the time.
