this is starting to confuse me now. it is working like it did right after the converter install. is it possible that the new filter and fluid helped out?
also, if im not getting PWM, then what is is doing when it shifts from 3rd to 4th? its still sounds and feels like its puching a wood chair on a lenolium floor (its the best i can describe it)

Dude, I don't think you're to find a solution by trying to describe your problem on this forum. Take it to another tranny shop or two, let them listen, and see what they say. Where do you live? See if there are any knowledgeable A4 LSx guys in your area who could ride around in it and give you their ideas. It sounds to me like your new converter has a lock-up clutch problem, but it's really hard to understand what you're trying to describe.

well, i got a new converter installed today and all the problems went away. i cleaned as much of the aluminum (or so i guess it is) out of the trans, but i might need to clean it out more or flush it. i dropped the valve body and cleaned it, but i didnt drop the metal plate and clean on the trans side (checkers didnt have any gaskets for it)
