which converter?

which converter? I'm thinking about changing my converter but i'm not sure which one (stall speed) to go with? i've got the a4 with 3.73's. Its my daily baby so i dont want to get to radical but want ot pick up my et's a little...? any suggestions?

With the 373s you don't have to worry too much about having a loose converter so a 3500 stall would probably do ya good. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" /> Th PI 3200 stalls a little higher than that but its very streetable. Lot of people say that the SY 3500 w/373 is a killer combo but I can't help ya there. Have you driven a car with high stall converter yet so that you understand how it handles?

Re: which converter? no i haven't. thats one big reason i was asking yyou guys. i also want something that i can throw in and not have to worry about reprogramming the computer.

Re: which converter? Vig3200 or SY3500 with the 3.73's will do well either way for street/strip performance.
i personally use the vig3200 on the 3.73's along with the transgo shift kit on the 2nd washer setting and it does well at the track for what i have done, and isnt as loose as the SY3500, which becomes bothersome in stop and go traffic....
and on the street i havent been disappointed either when im on the nittos

Re: which converter? Whatever converter you get, don't use street tires. At least get some Nittos for the back otherwise your traction will be poop. The ST3500 + 373s + street tires = big ol smoke screen. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" />

Re: which converter? I have the SY3500 w/3.23 IMO it is not a big deal on the stall. If you notice a lot of guys that had stalls of 2800,3000,and 3500 go bigger after a while. The 3500 is great but I still think I could handle a little more but I am not complaining. Take your time and make a good choice.

Re: which converter? For street/strip action I would go with the Vig 3200. I've had one in my wife's TA for a couple of years now with no problems. 60's are great on drag radials and street manors are very good. Heck I get in it after driving my car and think man this car need a converter. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" /> You can't go wrong with either that one or the Yank ST3500.
