Advice wanted: Wuss converter
You guys are recommending a 3500 stall for the guy when he already said he drove a car with that stall and didn't like the driveability. Remember that everyone isn't concerned with producing the bestETs otherwise we'd all have 4400 verters. Remember that this is the Wuss Converter thread.

not all 3500 stalls are the same. my 3200 is like a 3800....a SY3500 is like a 3200.....
as for the vig- i got a code in my 01 till i got torque management deleted.

On a side note. All of the converters people are throwing out here are good converters, but the key for you is to get what you want. I drive a Yank PT4400 and I love it but that's not the converter for you.If you want a Wuss converter then get that. I really don't consider a Vig 2800 a Wuss converter at all nor a Yank ST3500. If you want a real Wuss converter then get a SY2600 or that SLP converter, but I don't think you'll be happy with that either. One advantage to starting with a Vigilante converter is that you have 1 free stall change. Get a Vig 2800, drive it for a little while, and if you are happy with it great if not send it back and they'll raise or lower the stall for you at no charge. Better yet if you can find someone in your area with something close go drive it. I've let many people drive my wife's car with a Vig 3200 and it's sold a lot of converters, some 3200s and some smaller. It all boils down to what you want. Lots of people start out with smaller converters and most end up going bigger later. That's just part of the game we are all playing here. Good luck...

Anyone know what up?

The police ossifer who stopped me this morning at 4 A.M. for having a "heavy foot," (his words) must think the one I have now accelerates hard enough. He said, "But you have the right car for it." That's when I knew he was going to let me go with a warning. He checked me out on the computer, and finding that I am a solid citizen , he said, "Mr. Jones, slow it down for me, okay?"
"Why, yes sir, I surely will."

SLP sells a couple of converters, manufactured by Yank. I suppose the cheaper one is a "Stealth". But the other one is supposed to stall at 3300. The fact that SLP spec'ed it out interests me. Anyone know which, if any, of the converters that Yank puts its on brand on is equivalent to the SLP one?

I understand fully what you're saying. I just can't give advice over the internet based on what may or may not happen. Some people learn to adjust to driving around with higher stalls where others get sick of it pretty quick. I just don't wanna be the guy that talked someone into something they didn't originally want and feel like an idiot down the road when the regrets start occuring.
<---- Has run a Vig 2800 for over 2 years. Happy with the performance, thought about re-stalling higher, decided nuh uh. Too much rush hour traffic for this one.
Again, the best Wuss converter out there is the Pro Yank 3400 and the newly reconfigured Yank 3000. The old Yank 3000 was a 265mm converter, but the new ones are 258mm, just like all the Pro Yank converters. I would get one or the other and not give it a second thought.

I'm leaning toward the SLP 3300 converter (made by Yank). Their advertisement says they spec'd it out specifically for the LS1, and do not require computer programming.

Among the alphabet soup of converters from Yank, are the ones listed below. The diameters on these are all 265 mm, but I still don't know how to choose among them. Let me put it this way. Suppose you and I could win a lot of money if I could do a test drive with each of them and guess which was which. To help us win the money, what notes and instructions could you give me?

You have the credentials and you speak with confidence. I probably should just do what you say. I'll give Mike-at-Yank another call. I can't find the 258mm version in a catalog.
BTW, it's way too late for me not to give it a second thought - or third - or thirtieth.
