Has anyone else been waiting a LONG time for a Fuddle converter?
#21
I recieved my HP TH converter tuesday. Probably 3-4 weeks at most. It came in roughly a 12X12X12 box that was in great condition but had nothing but a converter in it. No damage but I have to imagine Fedex kept it upright the whole journey. I dig the blue paint. Hopefully install goes well and performance rocks. Keep in mind this is a custom made product and they don't stock parts for hundreds of converters(yet). They really should though. I can see where the wait bothers people but I was in no rush.

Any customers with direct concerns about their converter, please make sure you have sent an email or PM to us about the situation. We are very sorry for any problems and anyone who feels like they have been neglected. As I said above all emails received by Thursday afternoon have been responded to.

Aaron, I sent a PM on 5-31 that's still 'unread'. John promised me that my converter would ship 2-day on Wednesday (5-31) or next day on Thursday (6-1)....either way, getting me me 'verter on Friday. It's not here, I'd appreciate a response ASAP.

John, Melissa, and Ashley are out of the state testing converters so we can introduce a new line in June. Others are still at the shop so we can continue to build and ship converters.

You are full of ****. Do you know what a foundry does? Foundries deal with casting parts. Do you know what a cast part is? Like sand cast, investment cast, or lost foam cast? It is where you pour molten metal into a mold. It is not a converter pump or a converter turbine as they are made up of STAMPED metal parts then put together. They are not cast. Most quality converter covers are CNC'ed. I could go on. Dip ****. If you are having machining problems why are you blaming it on the foundry? They don't even do that.
Why do people have to go out of state to test a converter?????
Let me jump out there and say Fuddle is a one man operation in a garage and he doesn't know what he is doing or talking about. The only reason he can offer such a price is because the product is inferior. How can he offer a lower price with equal quality to PI or Yank if he doesn't even make half as much volume? Not possible. Wake up people.
Hey let's have a conversion about cavitation in converters and the effects! Can you enlighten us, Fuddle?

wow, angry internet people. jesus. guess everyone on the net is a genuis like the above! but then again i am sure you arent biased at all or have a reason to be bashing. you wouldnt have any ties to yank converters right?

Fair go
I am amazed at the lack of professionalism displayed by minority members on this website. Why take your personal issues to task publically like this? Did you know the forum owners are legally liable for anything you say and can be sued by businesses who have their name libled?
Perhaps you dont give a ****. For what possible purpose can this thread serve other than to gratify your personal discontent at the expense of others. Or is blackmailing companies publically a pasttime just because you can.
Sometimes I wonder why a company would bother sponsoring and supporting the LS1 community here on-line when they get responses like this. You won't even consider they might be telling the truth? Smells like a collusive effort to me.
Fair go mate.
Weak.

Why don't you send me a check for $1000. I'll cash it, keep it for two weeks and send you a $1000 check back. I bet after a month goes by and you don't recieve anything you'll get a little concerned, after six weeks you're going to get a little upset and suspicious, you're going to feel like you're never going to get your money back. You can try to contact me and I won't reply or I'll make up some stories that don't make much sense.
Would you remain civil feeling like you just gave $1000 away? Probably not.
I bet you'd be pissed off too and more than willing to warn everyone to not send me any money.
Why do regular people on an internet message boards have to display professionalism? We're just a bunch of 'nobodies' here, we are the consumers of whats being sold to us by the sponsors. And the purpose of this thread is to make others aware that several people have sent fuddle money and recieved nothing for it. I would really appreciate that if I were getting ready to make a purchase wouldn't you?

As I have never actually seen a Fuddle I can't say for sure, but it would be possible to have a cast front cover that incorporates a billet/machined hub/center section that is welded to the cover. The hub/center section would need to be welded to the front cover prior to any machining operations. It would probably be a 'pre-machine' part that has excess stock and the front cover/hub/center section would need to be machined as an assembly to yield the needed runout tolerances.
Casting and the accompanying metalurgy is not rocket science - but if the foundry in question is having problems with their process, and do not regularly conduct 'sectioning' tests of actual parts out of a run, or do not test 'pucks' made from their pours - bad things can happen
Since the front cover obviously incorporates some portion as a casting - I know I would personally feel MUCH better about having them fix the problem and get quality castings (even if the wait was long) rather than install a faulty casting (i.e. too much porosity, material strength is low due to impurities in the melt) behind my 426rwhp/418rwtq T/A! If/when the faulty casting fails - it will be a catastrophic failure - certainly taking out your tranny as well due to debris in the tranny fluid.
I do however, also agree that regular updates to customers that have paid, on the progress of their item, is an extremely important thing. I thought that it was usual (and may be required by law) that companies do not actually charge your card until the item ships? But then I keep hearing PayPal - so apparently Fuddle wants all the $$ up front before they will build a verter? If so, this type of pre-payment is not unusual with small companies that don't have the capital to put up that is needed to keep large amounts of components in inventory on their shelves...
And no, I am not affliated with Fuddle at all and don't actually own one of his verters - but I am a Mechanical Engineer

However, I just sucked eggs until they sorted it all out. I now know not to use USPS again. Sometimes things happen beyond your control that get you real pissed. It happens.
But, I sorted it out through my supplier and together we came to a solution. Infact, for my efforts, I was offered a completely free converter to show how sincere they were.
I just think what has happened here is unwarranted and uncalled for. Now when a company says "get stuffed" or "too bad, so sad" then you have something to get off on, like what has happened with other brand name converter companies that people all too quickly forget. But in this case, I dont think that was ever said.
Im sure some compensation for you would also have been in the pipe works. But that opportunity is gone now.
BTW, my supplier story was also with Fuddle.
Oh, and Fuddle do manufacture their own bits for their converters - just like Yank - thats why they rely on foundries.

A machined, cast front cover would be much more cost effective and keep the verter prices down over a machined, billet version. Course he could be having the front cover machined form a large cast, solid, round - but that would defeat the purpose of using a casting - getting a part that when cast, is at near final dimensions and requires minimal machining to be put in use.

Basically, what you are saying is some garage start-up is submitting extensive draftings to a foundry which require complex calculations in order to get the correct flow geometry and blade angle. GM has people working on that for years at a time. Think about that one.
HE IS BULLSHITTING YOU MAN! Can't you tell from his lack of expertise?
I can't believe you guys can't see through this jackass's disguise! I am pretty sure in 2003 he was on this site asking how converters work!
