Default Is A Shift Kit Needed With A Comp Tune

My Mods Are In My Sig. I Was Talking To The Guy I Bought It From And Asked If It Had A Shift Kit And/or Tranny Cooler. He Said It Has A Tranny Cooler And It Doesnt Need A Shift Kit Since It Was Computer Tuned. Is This True Or Should I Invest In A Shift Kit. Thanks Alot. Dan.

In a way, yes. The 4L60E's can be reprogrammed to shift firmer (I'm using the HPP+ for that). I noticed you have MadZ28's tune, and it's possible the tune includes the firmer shift option. You DO NOT want to install a shift kit if the computer was reprogrammed for firmer shifts because using both methods to increase the shift firmness will most likely damage the transmission.

Thanks For The Help Man. I Used The Hpp3 On My 99 Ls1 And It Made My Tranny Go Out Because I Had It On The 100% Firmer Shift Option. So I Was Just Not Wanting The Same Results With This Computer Tune. Would It Be Better To Do Away With The Shift Firmness Option With The Tune And Go With The Shift Kit?

A shift kit will give you more line pressure at WOT along with other things that a 4l60e needs to stay alive, Get a transgo shift kit and leave the tune alone JMO

"Would It Be Better To Do Away With The Shift Firmness Option With The Tune And Go With The Shift Kit?" Yes, the modified Trans-Go Performance Shift kit will do the job here.

Well I Dont Think I Can Put The Ecm Back To Stock Since I Have The ObdII Instead Of The ObdI Because The Stock Ecm Couldnt Handle A 3500 Stall. So Cant I Just Send It Back To Madz28 And Tell Him To Take The Shift Firmness Option Off? And Leave Everything Else He Did Alone.
