Default 4l60e or 700r4

Well just got the car back and the tranny is TOAST. Any kinda pedal over 1/4 and it shutters your teeth out of your head. I really don't want to go with a re-build on this again. I have a 700r4 and was wondering what you guys thought of having it completly built. I have a friend who is freinds with a very well know tranny builder here. He is gonna try and get me a deal. I know the internals are the same as the 4l60e minus the electronics, but I really am having problems with the electronics and my stall. The 94 pcm is pissing me off. I know some of you guys have built 700's..worth it or rebuild the 4l60e? Take in mind I will still have to deal with the PCM if I go back with the 4l60e.

thanks for any input

Are you running a vacuum mod kid on your build ups?? If not have this installed on your next build and forget about it....FYI, most tranny builders, (notice I said most) who build for your neighbor hood shops, and are very good about it, don't know how to hot rod one of these 4L60E's becareful...Hope this helps...Dave

think the 4L60E isn't very good? a 700R4 was a TOTAL POS. you couldn't even put a shift kit in them saftely. a shift kit would break the planetary gear set in them. that transmission performed best with mashed potato mush shifts. total junk, stay away.

yeah I am learning that, The first Re-build lasted 30k.

I think im going to just put a TH350 in it and be done. Im going to be bracket racing this thing, and mabey cruise to car shows, and have plans for a Hyundai as A DD. I Have a fully built 350, with a MVB. just need a bell housing and a converter to go with it.

Thanks for the help guys..

I have a 700r4 in my car that was built by freddy frye and its bad ***. it has been in there for like 8 years and I have not had any problems yet. but I am kinda leary about putting it back in there with the LT1 rather than the 305. Big horsepower difference.
