Installed my 3500 Stall Fuddle today...
Is it normal to lose some firmness in shifting with a stall? It hits well off of idle and from a roll but after the initial launch the successive gear changes are softer than when I had the stock stall.
My buddy said that the converter was absorbing some of the firmness I was experiencing with the stocker. I am running a 2.0 STR.
Also gear changes are hanging a bit during around town driving, is this something I can have tuned out? What happens is that I will give about 50% TPS and the gears will obviously shoot up because of the stall but it will hold that high RPM for a little longer than I would expect before shifting, I actually have to let up a little for it to shift.
It sure doesn't feel like a modification that is going to gain me .3 to .5 seconds in the 1/4th, but I have heard that this feeling is normal since improved ET comes from being higher in the RPM range more often.
I noticed that during a gear shift that the RPM's don't drop as much as before, it only drops to about 4K RPM now.

Yes, the softer shifts are typical for an aftermarket stall ... a shift kit will compensate for that and help in other areas. Tuning should solve the shifting hang-up which is also common after a converter install. The things you are experiencing are normal and some should be adjusted out and/or you may get used to some of them.

I am still on the fence as to whether I like the new stall better than the stocker, but my main reason for getting it was for the bigger cam I have sitting on my desk.

What made you decide on a 2.0 str? That big, fat goat you got there probably would have liked a 2.4-2.5 str much better. If the converter feels real sloppy and loose putting around town it's because of the low str.

Lower STR because I do 90% street driving and only go to the track 1-2 times a month.
John suggested that STR for me...
My opinion will probably change after my first race, havn't run anyone yet. Not many people in Germany do the light to light thing, plus on the autobahn I lose the advantage of the converter.
Can't wait to put in the 228/232 cam though.
