All years had traction control as an option, but you could get the car without it. If it has traction control, there will be a button right under the center AC vents. Turn off the switch to turn the traction control off. If there's no button there, you don't have traction control.

2.73's have a door code of GU2, not GU4. also, gears do not dictate whether or not you have traction control.
ok, I don't have the button for it but when I turn the ignition on before starting the car where all the lights come up the asr off light briefly comes up. Would that just be programmed in there and show up as off because I don't have the switch or am I missing something?? thanks for all the quick replies!

The gauge cluster does a quick check of the system, one of the things it does is illuminate all the light in the cluster for "proper" operation. Just because it lights up, doesn't mean you have it. In order to save cost on gauge clusters, GM use only one for the V8 models.

See the black "thing" behind the battery with the 3 cables running to it? That's the traction control module. If your car doesn't have one, you don't have traction control.
