Most will say 3500-3800. I'll say 4000-4400. I think if you get a 3500 stall you will kick yourself in the *** for not getting a 4000. If I got a 4000 I would kick myself in the *** for not getting a 4400. It's up to you. 4400 is entirely streetable on my (currently) untuned, stock cammed, 2.73 geared car and hasn't been touched by anyone yet. Once I get in a cam and a set of 4.10s to tighten it up it'll rock the **** out every road it touches. Don't listen to anybody who says that 4000+ is to much for the stock LS1 cam, biggest load of **** you've ever been told....they are probably running a 3200 stall in their weekend LS1 and driving a Plymouth Voyager to soccer games

Brand DEFINITELY matters. There are a lot of good companies out there, the two that I really like are TCI and Yank, not to downplay the others. It's just that I've had good experiences with those two companies.

since you have 323s, i vote stepping up to a 4400 stall. i have a 4k stall and 373s, and now i wish i had gone 4400+. i ran the time in sig with the 4k stall, 373 gears, headers, ls6 intake, and lid. stock engine tune, tranny was tuned for the stall. (shift points and tqm removed)
if you plan on spraying that thing, stick with a gear numerically lower or equal to 3.73, as you will be shifting into OD in the 1/4 on the bottle otherwise. this is why i went with 3.73s, after my cam install i will only have a 7,200 rpm rev limiter to play with and i'd like to stick with 26" tall tires.
oh, and...i cut low 1.6x 60' at the track spinning on bfg DRs - i just got some m/t drag radials (255/50/16) and they hook on the street with 25 psi like my bfgs did at the track with 14 psi. moral of the story: get some m/t drag radials to hook on the street. my susp. consists of kb sub frames, spohn lcas, and removed front swaybar.

I have 3.23s. I went 13.5s stock on street tires. I added ET streets and a Yank 4000 and dropped to 12.5s. Keeping everything else the same. So, my opinion would be to add a 4000 stall. Yank, Vig, fuddle in that order IMO. I daily drive my car too. If you plan on spraying it I wouldn't go larger than 4000 IMO. If you plan on staying N/A, no problem with a 4400

I spent $400 on the stall from Fuddle. About $100 on the cooler from LS1speed.com, and I paid a member of the local Fbody club around $200 for the install. Most shops I called charged around $300-400 for the install. You will also need your tranny lines flushed which will run another $125 or so. Definately worth it.
