I vote for 3.73s and a 4000 stall.

Most people say 3.73's in an A4. I run 4.10's and a 4200 stall, and for my comination of mods, it works great. It really all depends on what other mods you plan on doing. That's overkill on a stock car, but get a cam that's in that powerband along with other supporting bolt-ons, and that combo would do you right.

What cam are you running? Most think 4.10s in an A4 would be rough. I plan on doing it but I am not everybody. A 4000 stall and 4.10s will make traction nearly impossible with street tires so expect to pay a premium for drag radials every 3-5k miles. If your rear end is a "3" series carrier (stock 3.42 gears) Thunder Racing has a set of 3.90 gears you could run. That would perform pretty well I imagine.

EDIT: If you choose to do just 4.10 gears or just a 4000 stall, do the stall. It will make a MUCH larger difference than the gears.

My brother runs a SS4000 and 3.73s. He loves them. On MT DRs he' s gone a best of 12.41 and a 1.6X 60'. Those 3.73s really shorten up the tranny shifting though. First gear is damn near worthless on the street, and pretty much uses 2nd when he AutoX'd. At the top of the 1320 he is running in the powerband really good though. I like my 3.23s and probably wouldn' t do 3.73s. Once I can get a clean run on some DRs and compare to his times, I can make a better judgement though.

You guys aren't considering the fact that with these automatic overdrive transmissions, a gear over 4.xx is probably going to put you into OD in the 1/4 mile. Great if you want to trash your tranny and your ET's...

Alright so are you guys saying i should get the 4k stall. Look at the mods, is this the way to go? Getting a TC is the next mod.
