Default 4l65e stock in LS1?

Ok, so I have my mad dog transmission. I like it. It works great, but they are saying my shop sent them the wrong core. They say they should have gotten a 4l65e. I thought that the 4l60e was stock for a 98 TA. I don't think they even started making the 65 until 2004.

Can anyone help?

4L60E is stock on f-bodies. they don't know what they're talking about. then again, a 4L65E is a 4L60E just beefed up and new from the factory.

Yeah I thought about going with a Mad Dog tranny but when I talked to the guy there he told me that anything over a 2500 TC was way too much for these cars. That raised the eyebrows a little....he couldn't believe I was going to run a 3500. I also told him that there were numerous guy running 4000+. Not dissing your tranny, it sounded like a good package/price, but I am going to go with RPM transmissions very soon. Sorry to jack the thread.

Sounds like they sold you a 65 and want to charge you extra because your unit was not a 65. A 4l65e was never an option in an f-body. I guess this is their way of making more money with your core deposit. Sorry to say but this sounds like the case. Take care, Vince.

Yeah, I have trouble believing that they just didn't know the 65 wasn't an option on these cars. On top of that, the shop that took out my tranny grabbed the pump and a few electronic control parts before they shipped it out. I think I am putting out a "please screw me" message this month.

They didn't tell me anything about a stall being too high, just that 2800 was the most they would do for free.

i thought the 4L65E was just released a few years ago? meaning when the f-bodies were discontinued in '02, IT DIDN'T EVEN EXIST! bring in documentation stating the 4L65E's release date and if they try and rip you off, threaten a lawsuit since they are obviously wrong. how can a car come stock with a tranny designed 2 years after it was made?

Good call, do you know where I can find that documentation? I poked around GM, but couldn't find anything other than a few cars they used it in.

hmm..nevermind i may have been wrong

http://www.pacific-audio.com/perform...es/266974.html

New for 2001 is the 4L60-E HD, a heavy-duty version of the 4L60-E designed to withstand the higher torque loads of GM's LQ4 6.0-liter gas engine in the GMC Denali and C3. The 4L60-HD features a host of more robust parts that provide increased strength, which allows owners of these luxury sport utilities to enjoy excellent powertrain performance at a reduced overall vehicle weight. In 2002 this HD transmission was renamed to the 4L65-E and is used in all the Cadilac Escalades
i didn't think the 4L65E was that old either way, find documentation stating what tranny came in your car. maybe it's in the owner' manual?
