I guess to convert it you'd need to change the input/drum, pump, and bellhousing.

Does anyone on here know of any one who has done this? It does't sound to hard. It appeart that the 4l60e that I have i from a LT1. I wonder if i was to do the flywheel and spacer conversion if that would work as well???
Yes the flywheel and spacer set up will work fine. You'll only have five bolts holding it on instead of eight but many people running th350's and th400 are bolted up the same way.
The problem with converting it is finding the parts. There are a few transmission hardparts suppliers around my area that can get good used parts.
And an LS1 converter obviously.

That’s not out of a F-body. Look at the tail housing there’s nowhere for the torq arm to bolt up. It’s most likely out of a late model truck. Notice the removable bell housing. You may could change the bell housing and tail housing and be ok.

On a side note will a 700r4 tail housing bolt up to a 4l60e?
Just to state the obvious on this one I went ahead and made sure that it would botl up to the back of the engine...... and it would all but two bolts one at the to and one at the bottom...I guess we knew that one.
I am now second guessing that this is a LT1 4l60e. I thought that the lt1 4l60e had the half bell housing with the dust cover.....
if this is out of a s-10 or the like, I wonder if the lt1/ls1 yank converter will work........
the damn sticker that has the identification letters is missing off of the trans. Does anyone know of any where else that the 4 digit code would be located on the trans?
boy this is fun lol
thanks for the help guys!!!

That is a 1998 truck trans. As far as I know it is the only year of the removable bellhousing type '60e that is set up for a regular ol SBC. I put one of those in a '96 truck which orginally had the one piece trans. It worked fine even though I was told the electronics mught be different. I traced the pinouts in the service manuals for a 1996 and a 1998 and they were all the same so I couldnt see why it would not work, and it did.
I cant remember about the input shaft, but I took measurements of the 98 trans against an '02 LS1 '60e I had laying around and everything was exactly the same except the bellhousing.

Interesting....
Isn't the Ls1 bellhousing a deeper than the others?.....
Looks like I am getting further in my quest you guys have been a huge help!!!!
Thanks a Million!!!
Any futher thoughts?

I found out today after opening the transmission up that it looks to has been recently rebuilt. Good luck on my part. I probably still need to upgrade the usual parts however just to be safe!!
